Coronavirus Effects on Root Chakras

As we enter into in the wake of the Coronavirus and disruption of our daily lives, it's very obvious in the functions of our body, mind, and spirit, that we face uncertain times. The stability many of us have felt has become easily burdened by fear of the unknown. This causes blockages in our root chakras, which governs our ability to feel confident that our basic need (food, shelter, safety, etc.) are met.

When the root chakra is functioning optimally, you feel grounded, secure, and at ease with the world. But when it is imbalanced or blocked several signs can manifest, from digestion problems to back pain and fatigue.

Additional physical and psychological signs can include:

  • Feelings of insecurity

  • Aggressiveness

  • Sexual dysfunction

  • Anger

  • Restlessness

  • Eating disorders

Your earliest memories are stored here, including whether or not your basic needs were met. When it is blocked or out of balance, you can become needy, have low self-esteem, or have self-destructive behaviors. When the root chakra is in balance, you feel strong and confident; you can stand up on your own two feet and take care of yourself.

While we may not know what the future holds, practicing yoga poses allows us to start healing from the inside out. Root chakra balancing can significantly improve your overall mood and physical well-being by allowing energy to flow freely and evenly. If you are experiencing signs of a blocked root chakra, Yoga with Soul provides a free root chakra balancing yoga series you can practice daily to help you to feel grounded again.
